Quartzite Countertops

This material is a natural stone harvested from the earth in its natural form. Quartz is one the strongest natural materials available for custom countertops. It is resistant to scratching etching and to many of the treatments we can subject it to in our kitchen & Bathroom environment.

The Look Of Quartzite

Quartzite countertops are formed from pressure and heat and formed with material that is a mix of both the limestones from marble and the heavy earth materials formed from heat. Because of these details the material is durable like granites but have a similar look to marbles.

Where can I use Quartzite for countertops?

Quartzite is suitable for all applications. Inside or out quartzite can be used for all kitchen and bathroom applications.

Quartzite Vs Quartz Countertops

Quartzite is a natural stone and Quartz countertops are a mix of plastic/epoxy binding the quartz material together. A natural stone needs to be sealed to prevent staining. Quartz does not need to be sealed because of the bonding agent but because of this bonding agent quartz cannot be exposed to heat and chemicals like a natural stone can.

Quartzite vs Granite countertops

Quartzite material is more attractive and marble-like because of the material makeup but with the additional heat during the creation of this material makes it almost as durable if not more in some cases that granite. This material is more dense and heavier than most granites.

Quartzite VS Marble Countertops

Quartzites are very similar in appearance to marbles but because of the addition of heat the material is more dense and stronger. Quartzites are more resistant to etching from the exposure of acids.

Cons of Quartzite

It is a heavy material so be sure that cabinets are able to support the material as well as it is a natural stone so it may have pits and fissures that need to be sealed. Although extremely resistant to heat it is always recommended to use heat dispuring for hot pots and other heat producing appliances. These things can interact with the sealers or cause issues with fissures that can easily be avoided.

Cost of Quartzite

Quartzites are a bit more expensive. Because they are harvested closer to where your typical limestones end and metamorphic rock begins access to this material and harvesting this material from the earth is more expensive. Because of basic supply and demand considerations this material tends to be more expensive to source and to install.
